GREEN CARD LOTTERY IS OPEN

The U.S. diversity lottery is now open for registration and will run through November 5, 2024 until noon Eastern time.  This is a process where 55,000 applicants from countries with historically low rates of immigration will be randomly selected to legally immigrate to the U.S.

Green Card

If you’re thinking about registering, don’t wait until the last minute because sometimes the site crashes due to everyone else waiting until the last minute.

Natives of the following countries are NOT eligible: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, People’s Republic of China (including mainland and Hong Kong born), Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Venezuela, and Vietnam. Natives of Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible, however.

Clients often ask me if signing up for the diversity lottery will give them problems at a future visa interview.  Registering for the diversity lottery will not be an issue at a future visa interview, but if you get selected, the Visa Officer will presume that you have immigrant intent if you apply for a nonimmigrant visa (like a tourist or student visa).  But at that point, you may not care, since you’re getting a Green Card instead!

Registration is free.  However, be sure to use only the Department of State website to submit your entry.  There are many fraudulent sites that look like legitimate government sites, but they are not.  Use only this link:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-submit-entry1.html

If you are selected and you need assistance with the residency process, please let us know.  We look forward to serving you.
